¿WHAT WAS "JOHN VON NEUMANN"?

He was one of the greatest mathematicians of the twentieth century. Hungarian-American who made important contributions in quantum physics, functional analysis, set theory, computer science, economics, numerical analysis, cybernetics, hydrodynamics (explosions), statistics and many other fields of mathematics.

¿WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM AUTHORITY THAT RIGES TO THE PACIFIC ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE?

The General Assembly is considered the highest authority among the bodies and authorities that direct, control and advise the Institute of Environmental Investigations of the Pacific "John Von Neumann", it is composed of members associated with the institute, representing:

  • Black community delegates
  • Delegates from indigenous communities
  • Delegates of Non-Governmental Environmental Organizations
  • Representatives of universities and research centers
  • Public entities

¿WHAT ARE HOW MANY DEPARTMENTS ARE INCLUDED IN THAT BIOGEOGRAPHIC REGION?

In administrative political terms, the "Chocó Biogeographic" region comprises the department of Chocó in its entirety and part of the departments of:

  • Cauca
  • Nariño
  • Valle del Cauca
  • Córdoba
  • Antioquia
  • Risaralda

¿How many seats has the IIAP and where does the principal operate?

At present we have four alternate offices in the cities of Bogota, which operates as a liaison with other institutions of the national order, the others are located in Guapi, Buenaventura and Tumaco, attended by our managers.

The main office is located in the city of Quibdó in the race 6 # 37-39 Barrio Huapango. Tel. (057) (4) 6709126 in the department of Chocó.

¿Did you EXIST AN IIAP DOCUMENTATION CENTER?

If it exists and is considered as a specialized information unit that has the most complete collection on the "Chocó Biogeográfico", our documentation center is a fundamental tool for the development of this region, generating an environment conducive to research and Providing information that facilitates the decision-making process in the Institute's lines of research and in topics of interest to the region.

The center is located at calle 26 Nº 2 - 47. Barrio Alameda Reyes - Quibdó.

¿ON WHICH ACTION LINES DOES THE IIAP WORK?

We have three lines of action from which we plan to carry out research work and which we consider to encompass all the interests of the communities located in the "Chocó Biogeográfico". These are:

¿WHAT IS AND WHAT DOES THE "BIOGEOGRAPHIC CHOCO" UNDERSTAND?

The "Chocó Biogeográfico" is a sufficient region, whose jurisdiction includes the territory between the borders with Panama and Ecuador and between the ridges of the western cordillera, until the Pacific coast.
